According to the report, until Feb. 18, more than 110,000 undocumented migrants arrived in this continent: 102,547 through the Hellenic coasts and 7,507 through Italy.
In addition, about 413 people were killed when crossing, 321 of them en route from Turkey to Greece through the Aegean Sea, and 92 in the Central Mediterranean Sea crossing those who depart from North Africa to Italy.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees stated that nearly 85 percent of undocumented migrants come from the main 10 refugee source countries.
The agency added that despite the dangerous sea crossings, about 34 percent are children and 20 are women, proportions growing compared with the previous year, when most of the arrivals were men.
Since 2015, Europe has been experiencing a migration crisis, which is considered the worst since the World War II, with more than one million people from war-torn countries and misery.
Facing the phenomenon, the European Union has failed to articulate a joint response, so those countries deploy questioned protectionist measures, such as strengthening border controls or lifting boundary walls.
